You are capable of healing. Your mind and body already have this ability.

Do you feel stuck? Anxious? Exhausted? Depressed? Like giving up?
Sometimes we get stuck. We feel like we are just going through the motions. We get tired of having bigger reactions than a situation seems to warrant. We are tired of repeating the same solutions with no positive results. We realize we're not making sense in our relationships and we're scared of emotionally hurting those we love.

I believe each person has the capacity to heal Self. I believe each person is an expert in their own life. I treat each person with respect for their life history,  for their overcoming of struggles and their ability to survive even in extremely challenging circumstances. I don’t ask: ‘What is wrong with you?’ I prefer to ask: ‘What has happened to you that affects you today?’

Weekly EMDR Sessions

When we have an intake appointment, I start by figuring out what you want to work on and what brought you to therapy. I determine how your body and mind are being affected by symptoms of depression, anxiety, stress, and trauma responses.
I get baseline information from screening tools that help us know where we are starting and then we work together to put together a plan of treatment goals that will get you to a place of peace, comfort, and
safety within yourself and feelings of love and joy.

I believe therapy is a collaborative journey toward wellness in mind, body and spirit where my job is to give you tools for coping differently. I also help you process traumatic past experiences. Just like a doctor who helps you heal a broken bone by setting the bone in the right position, I help you heal your Self by setting up an ideal environment within your Self for your brain to heal. When a doctor sets a bone, they don’t actually tell the body how to heal, the body already knows how to do so. In the same way, your brain already knows how to heal from traumatic or hard experiences and we just have to help it become ‘unstuck’. And because we are not just in our mind, we also may have stored pain and trauma in our body. Somatic practices help move the stuckness out of the body. Healing is possible, I've seen EMDR work and it worked for me.

Sessions are 55 minutes long and take place virtually via secure video session.

I use EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and DNMS (Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy, like IFS) with nearly every client.  My job as therapist is to guide you through reprocessing hard memories and helping disconnect them from the pain.  Ask about Nature-based EMDR and how I incorporate yoga and movement into sessions. I have a certification for Psychedelic Assisted Therapy and provide Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy.

EMDR INTENSIVES
Who is a good candidate for EMDR intensive sessions? If you are mostly stable in housing, employment, relationships and mood yet are still dealing with symptoms of PTSD and struggles that stem from a single incident or significant incident in childhood or adulthood, you might be a good fit for this. If you have participated in traditional talk therapy and are still dealing with some negative self talk and beliefs, this may be a next step for you.

Who would not be an appropriate candidate for EMDR intensive sessions? If you have complex PTSD and are struggling with addiction, suicidality and instability in relationships and mood, this indicates a need for more consistent and supportive sessions that would likely be weekly or biweekly for several months.

Why doesn’t insurance cover EMDR intensives? Insurance companies have not caught up with research on how effective and impactful intensive work can be and so do not have reimbursable codes for intensives.  Your intake and preparation sessions for intensives may be able to be covered by insurance, ask about this!

How much does this cost? Two hour intensives cost $350 and three hour intensives cost $500. The two hour intensive typically feels like you are getting the value of 3-4 regular sessions. The three hour intensive typically feels like you are getting the value of 4-5 regular sessions.

Why would I choose to pay out of pocket for this versus use my insurance and have weekly appointments? Folks who choose to do this prefer to get a lot of hard work done in a short period of time. Choosing an intensive means choosing to pay upfront to get results quicker and not have time in between sessions for more life to get in the way.  Some people choose this because they struggle after EMDR sessions and would rather get the work of three or four sessions in two hours instead of spreading it out and having to recover in between. And because most good providers are on a waitlist, it means waiting months to be able to get in to see them for regular weekly sessions.

Do we go for 120 minutes or 180 minutes without a break? Absolutely not! We take bio-breaks and discuss the need for breaks as we go.
